As I sit here today and reflect on the meaning and history of Memorial Day, it oddly enough makes me think of an Amazon TV series – The Man in The High Castle. If you have not seen this show it is one that will send chills up your spine. The show lays out an idea of what the world may have looked like if the outcome of WWII had been different. In this world the US is divided and under Japanese and Nazi control.
Thankfully, this is not the world we live in today – most notably because of the sacrifices made by those who have served.
Today we take time to remember the men and women who bravely served and who also made the ultimate sacrifice. Their sacrifice is a foundation for our own lives; what allows us to live freely, help each other and follow our own dreams. Regardless of your plans for the day, take some time to reflect on the many blessings we experience because of their service and be grateful that we have an amazing country like this to call home.
